March 9th kicked off the central Florida triathlon season with the Wildman Olympic Triathlon/Duathlon/Aquabike event at Moss Park, on Lake Mary Jane in southeast Orange County. The Sprint and My First Triathlon series continues in the same location March 10th. Our club did not have a lot of representation at this event but your author showed up to try the
Although the cold temperatures discouraged some participants in the morning time trial, the afternoon trail ride at Snow Hill / Little-Big Econ River was well attended. The morning USA Cycling Time Trial was rather chilly. Temperatures in the low 40s, combined with a stiff breeze from the Northwest definitely added “Windburn” to the normally hazard free environment we enjoy on
New records were set at the Orlando Runners and Riders Time Trial course Sunday Feb 3rd. It seems that now being a USA Cycling sanctioned event has attracted a higher level of competition. Even last week, we have Brock Brinkerhoff break the old course record of 13:30 (set by Will Rodriguez) with his own record of 13:00. That record lasted

Our first USA Cycling time trial went smoothly with 8 riders showing some pretty good speed. The previous course record was broken by not one, but two riders. Henry Arias turned in a 13:24 time, beating Will Gonzales’s previous record of 13:30. He didn’t hold the record long. Brock Brinkerhoff shattered the record with a very impressive 13 flat! Turn
The preliminary 2013 time trial schedule is set. We have completed a full year of time trials and our club has decided to move forward with a twice-monthly series in 2013. Thanks to the effort of our members recruitment efforts and the recent alliance with the Hunter’s Creek Triathlon club we are seeing much larger (and growing) attendance numbers. With
With only 9 races completed in the Fall-Winter series there is still time to get in and qualify for the final standings. So far more than 20 riders have competed in at least one race, but only a few have been in more than one. The event is the safest and most relaxed racing environment possible. Aerospace Parkway is deserted
It was looking like your author would be the only rider in today’s Time Trial. Fortunately, the installation of 2 new water jugs attracted some new riders to give it a try. Carlos Velasquez, Jorge Suarez, Brian Small, and Bill Van De Water joined us today to bring our “A flight” up to snuff. All four riders were able to
Perfect weather allowed all riders to set new records in the prelude of the Fall-Winter Time Trial series. The temperature stayed in the high 70s to low 80s and the wind was light out of the northeast. Only 3 riders completed the course, with two late arrivals just doing the start for points. Is 7:45 am really that early? This
Although Tropical Storm Isaac was in the area, and probably discouraged attendance, the weather ended up being perfect for a time trial, with overcast skies, light winds and cooler temperatures prevailing at the 8am start time. Five riders enjoyed starting and finishing to the sound of a cowbell, and received double points for braving the alarmist weather reports. The first
