* The Cross Season runs from Sept through Feb in Florida – see Florida Cyclocross for more info.

The 2017 event was a success, in spite of two days of cold, rainy weather. Recovering from the financial disaster of 2016, we were actually able to clear about $500 above expenses. We donated approximately $400 of it to both the Samaritan Resource Center and the Sean Ashman Founation. The extra $100 was used to fund the year end meeting.

Here are some photos and results pages from the 2017 event

  • Course Designer Josh Jianuzzi did a tremendous job. The "dirt pile" was everyone's favorite photo op site

Origins

On November 12 and 13, 2016 we hosted the inaugural event of what we hoped would become an annual classic. Located in East Orlando, the Lake Rise Action Sports Center appeared to be an ideal location for an outdoor event, especially cyclocross. There was LOTS to do for riders, families and spectators. The facility is on a deep, clear lake, with a tow wire going all the way across for skiing and wake boarding. Unfortunately the owners are having some challenges and the park is not available to us.

The women's race was very competitive. In the foreground from L to R: Diane Blake, Christy Markel, Meghan Mackie. The barriers are a favorite spectator spot, as the riders need to dismount, carry their bikes over , and remount on the other side.
