“Cowbell Classic” to End Summer Time Trial Series August 26th

As our summer series comes to an end, there is s till time to compete and qualify for the summer standings. The 26th will be a special event, the first annual “Cowbell Classic” – (there will be MORE COWBELL!) Registration will be at 7:30am at the end of Aerospace Parkway – for a Time Trial, followed by a slower paced social ride. First rider goes out at 8am.

This event is free, however donations are accepted. 50% of all funds raised will be donated to Wounded Warrior project and Tour de Cure.

This is not a USA Cycling sanctioned event. Times are kept with a digital watch to the nearest second. This is a fun, social event and a good chance to practice intervals and speed.

The short course starts and finishes at the beginning of Aerospace Parkway. It is two laps (down and back twice) for a total of 5.1 miles. A course is shown below. Times will be kept and standings will be posted. The location is ideal on Sunday mornings, with almost no traffic and some excellent assistance from the International Corporate Park security team.

There is also an optional, “long” course that is 10.8 miles. This course is for riders who want a little more of a challenge and want to earn some extra “points”. There is a point bonus for running the long course.

Season Schedule (check Facebook Group for latest updates)

Planned Event Schedule
7 am – some riders plan to meet at Davis Bakery to ride down to Aerospace for a warmup
7:30 am – Registration
7:50 am – Riders’ meeting
8:00 am – Start. Riders will go out at 1 minute intervals
9:00 am approx – Social ride

Travel Directions: Travel south on Innovation way, stay on Monument Parkway (you have no choice really). Go past the 528 exits. At this point the road is called International Corporate Parkway. Park in the Sales Office Driveway on the right. Looks like one of those large construction trailers. The driveway is even with the first set of concrete “checkerboards” in the road. The start is further down, past the second set of checkerboards.
