Three competitors braved the cold waters of the Waterford Lakes pool in the first leg of our practice triathlon on March 24th.
There is an increasing gravitation towards pools for triathlon swims in Florida. Certainly, many people feel safer in a pool than in open water.
Brannon Moore, Dinah Philips and John Tenney participated in the first practice sprint Triathlon for the club. Kathleen Tenney was assisted by her daughters Grace and Sophia as the scorers and administrators of the race. The layout was as follows:
We used the pool deck as a transition area this time, but after a very informative discussion with HOA director Ken Zook about the dangers of bacteria that comes from dirty bike tires, we will not be bringing the bikes inside the pool gate in the future. So, if we are to do this again we will need additional volunteers to maintain transition area security.
