Orr Time Trial TeamIt was great to be represented at the Airport Time Trial on Feb 18 as a team. Although nobody won any podium positions, having three riders wearing the same jersey certainly caught some attention.

John Tenney, Randy Durkee and Chuck Peabody all made it out to Heintzelman Road for the second race in the Airport Time Trial series. Warmup started at 4pm with a scheduled race start of 5pm. Due to the enormous turnout (45 riders total) the start was delayed to 5:15.

John, Randy and Chuck finished with times of 19:33, 20:56 and 22:01 respectively over the 6.98 mile out and back course. All new personal records, of course in the case of Randy and Chuck it was their first time. They finished 32nd, 35th and 39th overall. John and Randy were 6th and 7th in the Masters 50+ division (the largest division with 10 riders) and Chuck was 2nd in the First Timers – Eddy Merckx division.

Time Trial season has started, with three Tuesday night races scheduled in March:
March 11th: Innovation Way #1 (our club) – 6:30pm
March 18th: Airport/Heintzelman race #3 – 6pm
March 25th: Innovation Way #2 (our club) – 6:30pm

Time Trials are the safest and easiest races to compete in, as there is no danger of collisions with other riders. The courses are simple and the riders compete against the clock, going out alone in 30 second or one minute intervals.
